Nigel Farage addressed his Reform UK party conference amid allegations the party had broken political donation laws. His speech, delayed by a security alert and repeatedly interrupted by hecklers, focused on defending the party against claims of foreign donations and criminal offences. Footage from an undercover investigation by Verbatim showed senior Reform figures discussing how to disguise foreign donations, including polling services, allegedly paid by an American donor.
The party has been reported to the police, and two officials, Dan Jukes and James Orr, have stepped down pending an internal investigation. Farage denied wrongdoing, dismissing the allegations as part of a coordinated attack and accusing undercover reporters of entrapment. He claimed Reform had not broken any laws and accused critics of fearing the party’s rise.
The conference, overshadowed by funding controversies, also saw Greenpeace disrupt Richard Tice’s speech with a climate protest banner. Farage’s speech included promises to declare a national emergency, reform Parliament, and address judicial appointments. Labour’s Bridget Phillipson criticized Farage’s handling of the crisis, while Green Party representatives highlighted climate and cost-of-living issues as more pressing than Farage’s proposed reforms.
